Anwar McDonald

Songwriter

Anwar McDonald is a songwriter who’s knack for creating infectious melodies and quotable lyrics crosses multiple genres. The Bahamian songwriter got his international start writing 6 reggae hits (including the singles “Life We Live”, “Made In California” and “Set Me Free” for reggae artist Jah Cure’s 2015 album ‘The Cure’ (which debuted at #1 on Billboard Reggae Albums chart and was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards). He collaborated with Jah Cure again on his 2019 Album ‘Royal Soldier’, including the singles “Risk it All” and “Marijuana” (which features Damian Marley). Anwar continues to work in reggae and dancehall music, and has penned songs for Kranium, Maxi Priest and others.  When it comes to pop, R&B, hip-hop, country etc. Anwar manages to transition seamlessly between the genres and deliver equally strong songs, all while bringing his unique touch and creativity to each one.


Anwar is a constant collaborator of Cymba’s Jordan Best, having co-written indie tracks for artists such as TEFO, iamrebelwill as he continues to work on a variety of songs for artists in the West Indies. His most recent co-writes with France’s Mat Hours and Spain’s Jose Manuel Moles of Peer Music Spain are the beginning of his international cut history.
