Danielle Knibbe

Blending folk, roots, and country sensibilities, Danielle Knibbe's songs win, and then all too often, break your heart.

Tackling topics like mental illness, loss, heartbreak, estrangement, and countless others, Danielle Knibbe has developed a following by being as genuine and open in her songwriting as she is onstage. Her knack for penning insightful yet straightforward lyrics has already gained her recognition, earning her the nickname "The Lyric Doctor" during her time at the Banff Centre for the Arts' inaugural Singer-Songwriter Residency.

She won the 2020 Colleen Peterson Award and the 2019 English Songwriter Award (formerly called the Stingray Rising Star Award) from Folk Music Ontario, and has had multiple songs selected for print in American Songwriter Magazine. Throughout her career she's had the opportunity to write for/with Juno nominees Chloe Albert and Barbra Lica, Canadian Folk Award Winner Geneviève Racette, and has been mentored by songwriting heavyweights Kim Richey, Don Henry, and Margaret Glaspy.

There's an intimacy and familiarity to her music; her songs may not be about you, but you'll think they are.
