Lylie

Lylie’s (pronounced ‘Lilly’) musical journey began at age 4 when she started to play the piano. For ten years she took classical and jazz lessons to master what would eventually become her favourite instrument. In 2009, Lylie’s mother gave her a beautiful Ibanez guitar with which she learned how to play and sing by creating cover songs in her room for at least a year before she started posting them online on Facebook for friends and family to see. Next followed the ukulele, an instrument with which Lylie wrote her first few songs, including “Side by Side” and “Poison”. In 2017, Lylie met producer and sound engineer Nick Roberge at an after party at his studio.

After experimenting in the studio for about a year, Lylie and Nick found their ‘sweet spot,’ and they released their first single “Side by Side” in 2018. Later the same year, “Poison” was released and played on various radios such as CBC radio 1, Sirius and many more in Quebec and Belgium. After spending several nights working in the studio, Nick and William Ghough (guitarist) came up with an instrumental demo of what is now “High Tide”. Lylie, Nick & William completed the song together and it was released in June 2019. The release was accompanied by Lylie’s very first video clip, which she produced with the help of friends and co-workers at VICE where she was working at the time.

High Tide premiered on Quebec media outlet ‘Urbania’ in August 2019, and it was very well received in Quebec and Belgium. Following High Tide, Lylie booked her first show at Groom Bar in Lyon, France where she opened for Quebec band Ghostly Kisses, accompanied by drummer Benjamin Courcy (Charlotte Cardin) on October 16th 2019. After returning to Montreal, Lylie & Nick met with Vincent Degiorgio (Cymba Music Publishing). Vincent had heard “High Tide” online and wanted to team up with Lylie and Nick to provide them with the resources they needed to write more songs and keep on creating.

Since then Lylie and Nick have been writing and working on their first EP for which they already have several new unreleased songs in the works. Lylie plans on releasing the EP with various video clips and visual content. She was recently featured in the online live video series ‘Session de Salon’, with a set of her songs as well as a separate live video cover of ‘Maps’.
